The 6 stages of your visa

A simple guide to what each step means. Exact wording on the EMGS page can differ.

1. Application submitted

   Your university submits your visa application and documents to EMGS.

2. Payment & document check

   EMGS checks your documents and the visa processing fee payment.

3. Review & approval

   EMGS and Immigration review the application. If anything is missing, the university is asked for it.

4. Visa Approval Letter (VAL)

   Once approved, the VAL is issued. With it you can apply for your single-entry visa (or e-Visa) and book your flight.

5. Arrival & medical

   After you land, you do the post-arrival medical screening at an EMGS-registered clinic.

6. Student Pass

   Your passport is endorsed with the Student Pass. You're officially a student in Malaysia.
